Additional needs & Literacy: Catering for diverse middle years learners

ALEA Victoria, ACMI and VATE invite you to a professional development seminar to explore strategies to support upper primary and lower secondary students with additional learning needs. All students, regardless of their physical, social and intellectual development and characteristics, have the right to develop the knowledge and skills needed to live productive and positive lives. Most teachers are teaching learners with disabilities. This seminar focuses on improving outcomes for diverse learners in your classroom and is delivered by experts in the field, Dr Debra Edwards and Murray Evely, Psychologist. It will include a lecture and workshop, and participants will develop an understanding of a range of common conditions impacting on learning. Participants will consider the important role teachers play in supporting the literacy learning of all students. Practical teaching and learning strategies, along with digital technologies that support literacy learning will also be shared.
